Sector momentum: real estate investments are producing steady gains

Fidelity’s income and growth oriented real estate funds are making steady gains in spite of the recent consolidation in many sectors. As we look ahead to the second quarter of 2012, these two mutual funds have the potential to produce market-beating returns and will be important to watch.

The Fidelity Real Estate Investment fund (FRESX, last change: 1.05%) has produced a solid 11.55% return in the first quarter of 2012.

FRIFX chart

The Fidelity Real Estate Income fund (FRIFX, last change: 0.18%) is one of the top domestic income funds with a 6.15% year-to-date gain.
